  • External Graphics Card courtesy of ASUS

This is something I've long wished was available, ASUS has introduced an external graphics card:

There's likely going to be issues that come up once this hits the market, but one of the nice things is that the housing can potentially be used with any PCI Express-based graphics card.

In less 'exciting' news, ASUS also unveiled the first SideShow-enabled notebook:

Could have sworn I'd seen other models from other vendors, but those might have been concepts instead of an available product. Definitely like the idea behind these, but I'm not sure I'd ever truly put it to use.

Even nicer would have been this tech in a docking station, and then one of those nice asus leather subnotebooks. I'd have taken that even over my tablet (though it would have cost more).
There's an Opera in my macbook.

the ibm dock has been able to house a videocard for ages. iirc, it was size-limited, though (half height?).

Dell had (or might still have) a dock that would accept (can't remember if it included one) an AGP graphics card as well. The only problem with docks is that you run the risk of getting locked into a particular vendor, but then again that's probably not of much concern to most people (given brand loyalty).

Would be good if Shuttle with it's new X200 series had a stacking option for a high performance graphics card.
