Have you ever seen 3.5 mm digital outs? I haven't (but then, I haven't exactly been looking...)

      I'd bet a beer that it's TOSLINK
There's an Opera in my macbook.

It is a TOSLINK out, I'd bet money on that.

Right. I've got a TOSlink cable that works fine - Thanks for that.

I am having problems with the S/Video out though. I think the laptop is detecting my TV as a HDTV... I have connected the laptop to the TV via the S/Video. The TV's OSD flickers so I know that there is a signal. The monitor has lots of options for cloned display, desktop extension or dual view. Dual view states that the monitor and TV can be used with independent resolutions. Great - that seems ideal!

The problem is that I can't get a picture. If I use one of the multi-monitor settings and specify i/pal, 800x600@60Hz I get nothing. If I make the laptop hibernate then the TV displays the 'preparing to hibernate' screen. This makes me suspect that there is a problem with the output resolution, as that screen is 640X480.

I've managed to get the TV detected as a standard TV, but I still cant get a picture... There must be a setting somewhere that I am overlooking. Any thoughts?

                    [optional...maybe]

Grab the latest WHQL certified driver for your nVidia graphics card. If you have an older laptop (1+ years, i.e. 6000/7000 series nVidia card a mid-85 or low-90 series driver might work better) Do the nHance drive deal and make sure "TV out" is selected to enable.

Unpack, copy the inf from nHance to the unpackaged dir, install.

                    Reboot.

                    [/optional]

Go into the nVidia Control Panel or options menu (Display Settings -> Advanced button -> nVidia tab), and search for an option that says "Force television detection on startup" or something like that. In the control panel go to "Change Display Configuration", click on the "My display is not shown on the list..." link and the option is there.

Make sure the s-video cable is connected and, you guessed it, reboot.

Go back into the Control Panel and make sure you have DealView set with the TV as the secondary display. Don't use clone view or single view, as they both suck and don't work well. Only use dual view.

That should fix it... if it doesn't, play around with the different driver series on LaptopVideo2Go.com. Some series work better for different card. My old 6200/6800 worked best with 91.33.

Cheers. It was a driver issue. The link you gave sorted it out.
The only problem is HP keeps prompting me to revert back to a previous version
