Feh. I'm over racing games, but I do understand that some people like them, much like some people like Football games, and some people like ridiculous 3D fighting games (a genre I've also been over for several years now).

What about GoW? That's a 3rd person game.

And I believe I already said it's the first real "must have" title for that system, despite being a bit on the short side...

Well, if you have a nice PC, by all means, play the FPS on that. But if you can't afford a high end rig, you can have a 360 for the price of a decent video card.

Actually, the 360's graphics are pretty much on par with what a Radeon 9x00 puts out with all the options turned up... I've seen several comparisons that show that the output from the 360 is... while very impressive for a console... nothing amazing. In fact, if you've seen the NFS:Underground screenshot comparisons, you'll see the average PC output for that game is in fact BETTER than the 360, regardless of how you set it up.

Yes, two years away to be precise. 2009 is when the big high def switch will be completed, IIRC.

Or so they claim. We've debated before about the complete and utter infeasibility of this. What you have to remember when reading statistics is that VAST swaths of this country still don't even have cable, and don't have ANY money to go buy a new TV or a tuner or a box or anything, so the "big high def switch" is just talk. That date has been moved 10 times and will continue to be moved until Joe Sixpack's 20-year-old console set finally dies and someone makes a $100 high-def set for him to replace it with.

I've considered this too. On one hand, they can't do it too soon, or they'll piss everyone off. OTOH, if they wait too long, they'll kill themselves. Methinks that they should be the first company out with a system the next cycle around.

Agreed. Problem is that Console cycles are traditionally very long, but I think that might be ending now. The entire concept of the "console generation" may be coming to a close.

Lies. Go look up Ridge Racer 7 (or any other game that came out for both) and compare them side by side. So far, the PS3 looks no better, and in some cases it's worse.

Watch the video for White Knight Story and then tell me that the XBox can do ... that.

Amen to that. But the prices have to come down sometime.

I dunno. Sony just RAISED prices in some places. They've lost a ton of money on this console, will continue to lose money, and I don't see them capitulating with a price drop anytime in the next year or so.

Sony didn't "raise" the price really. they just brought it up to the same price that we pay for the console in the US.

Dude, if it was $600 last week and it's $650 this week, that's a "price increase", also known as (aka) "raising the price".

I don't care if it was raised to be more in line with the USA pricing, it was still a price increase and that's RIDICULOUS. The LAST thing you do when you're not selling enough units... is RAISE THE PRICE.

Sony is high on crack. And it's not good crack. It's the kind of crack that has rat poison in it because the dealer is stingy and wants to screw his users.
