  • looking for artwork (buttons/icons on remote control)

    Hello,

I'm currently in the process of programming a touch-screen remote control for my parents. I don't really like the default artwork for both the buttons and for the icons, so I'd like to import some graphics.

Does anyone know of a list of graphical files for the icons commonly found on remote controls (you know: play, stop, pause, angle, subtitles, teletext, ....) ?
If not, I can cut them from the pdf-manuals of the devices (those are nice), but as that is a lot of work I'd prefer to see if I could find them online.

And along the same lines: are there sites with artwork for buttons and lines (e.g. to mark section on the remote) in various shapes and sizes?

    Thanks!

Yes, I've been browsing there, but just the simple, common icons are hard to find there (many nice ones for use in skinned players though). The touchscreen only has 16 greyscales and is 240x320 in resolution: icon readability is key.

Have you checked http://www.remotecentral.com/ to see what other people have done with your remote?

Yes, I found one file with number of buttons in different shapes, but don't really like them. The software to program the remote has its own font, in which most of the common symbols are included; but some symbols aren't (e.g. angle for DVDs, audio selection for DVDs, ...). I'm guessing most people either just put text, or a different icon.

I'm now at the point where I started copying the buttons from the PDF manuals of the different devices.
