Well, it may be upgrade time.
It's been at least a couple of weeks since the last question like this, so already needs updating.

Currently I am running:
1, Athlon XP 2000 OCed to 2600
2, 1 gig ram
3, ATI 9000 pro
4, An old eide LG burner I've never had much luck with

Purpose:
I don't play games (not new ones anyway)
I do use WINXP and Linux
I do rip and/or burn the occasional DVD

I am considering an upgrade to:
(nevermind the HD it's for something else, I have a 300gb Seagate I'm keeping)

FYI - Intel will lower their prices on all CPUs in a week or so. Once that happens, the INtel CPUs will be cheaper than AMD again.

I don't know how the Abit mobos are these days but they used to be very unreliable after about a month.

Also, since the 8600GTS just came out, all video cards will probably drop in price soon.

I'm also looking to upgrade between next month and the end of the year.

Didn't Intel have a big price drop last April too?

Guess my upgrade will be SOONâ„¢.


Though, it looks to me like the Intel prices would have to pretty much crash to get their price/performance level down to AMD territory right now.
