Gurm, I'm always amazed at how you can make almost any software to misbehave

Seriously, form what I've experienced...Google sidebar just...sits there and displays things.

(and...you all really agree that the biggest reason to use Vista over XP is...interface?)

      exactly..it looks "cooler" than Xp

        We all agree?
        (a sign of the appocalypse?)

But as far as I'm concerned yes. Allthough with the right themes one can get XP to look a lot cooler than it does by default.

Hmm...so perhaps one of the resons why I'm not attracted to Vista is because I'm using Windows classic theme?

            Yup, me too.

Classic theme is fine by me.
I don't give a monkeys arse that its pretty.

If I could run a machine fine off the command line, I would.

The only reason i'll go to Vista, is for the Games. The DX10 only ones that they seem to be pushing down our throats.

For years, games have been backwards compatible to 98, or even 95, and now, just as a new OS comes out, they are going to leave backwards compatibility behind ?

Do they think everyone is going to go out and buy a new PC ?
Nope, people are just not gonna buy the games, or get a DX9 cracked version off the web...

It would be slightly easier to understand if there was powerful DX10 hardware, but there isn't. AT ALL.

An 8800 won't be enough for me to play in 1680x1050 in DX10, with bells and whistles on.
So why push to DX10 now ?

Well the install at home is working fairly well although ever so often an unspecified windows service dies a death.
Then one at work has been partly destroyed by Novell Client and Iprint both of which don't want to come off and the uninstaller won't remove them.
Anyone know a manual way of removing these programs??? Before I go on the Novell Fourms and ask.

I think i read on Slashdot that many people are having trouble uninstalling software on Vista, apparently after one or more patches had been applied.
It was a few days ago...

Quite a few people seemed to have the problem, with differing software.
With i remembered where i saw it...

Google might be able to find people in the same case as yourself...

                p.s.
Getting sh*t-faced tonight to celebrate the first week of my MCSA course going well, and it being so interesting ( it really IS, i'm not bull-sh*tting). And the fact its f***ing miles away and I leave at 7am and get back at 7pm...( thats awful)

Yup. It's nice that all of the control panels can be pulled up like that. Or the live searching in the upper right hand corner of the explorer window. Orrrr the breadcrumb navigation where the path used to be.

Lots of nice UI tweaks that make navigating easier if you use them. Of course... most of these things are not things that you have to use, or even something that you would use if you were just using it like XP.

Oh yeah... my all time favorite...

If you have it set to always show file extensions and you rename the file (either through F2, right clicking then selecting rename, or from the file menu) it defaults to highlighting only the file name, NOT the extension.

So...again, UI tweaks, which of course could be added to XP? ;P

But seriously...behaviour with "always show extensions" seems really good; I wonder if anybody implemented something like thos on 2k/XP
