For a "portable" gaming mahcine, I'd rather build a "small form factor" otherwise I'd get a true laptop, like the one I already have.

    LOL

This can happen with any machine unfortunetely.

We have this year had 5 laptops that has died of clogged fans, all these where less than 2 year old models.

ok, alright I admit, they where also all P4 "desktop cpu put into laptops" mutant monsters

One of them had a warped keyboard and screen
If there's artificial intelligence, there's bound to be some artificial stupidity.

Seems there's a quad out after all: First quad-core laptop hits U.S.

Zokes posted about "another" quad core laptop here.

If you compare the pictures of the two machines, it becomes apparent that they are very related. Clevo is probably the ODM, the model being the D900C.

Go figures! Desktop CPU's are not meant to go into laptops. When will people learn? Yeah it may be great to own such a beast in laptop form but the cooling will never equal it's desktop counterpart. *sigh*

Knowing this now, if I ever buy one (which I probably never won't anyways) then you bet I'm getting a 3 year full load warranty. And I've said it once and I'll say it again, I can't wait till they release the mobile quad core. Until then, the most powerful laptop CPU will remain the X7800 a Core 2 Duo @ 3GHz.

@Admiral & az: Yup, and it's a Canadian company too!

            Continuing rants...

Luckily I've never seen "gaming laptop" here... Still, people do want some weird, IMHO, things from laptops; mostly biggest possible screen, also not looking at battery time, only at price. I guess it's like that in most places...which, I guess, drives the prices of really portable laptops way too high :/ (here's hoping for Asus Eee PC or OLPC derivative)

Some people want powerful, portable PC's; not necessarily something they can run off their battery and actually leave on their laps (and still have children).
