  • Suggestions for PVR software?

Picked up an ATI TV Wonder card at BestBuy and so far it works well enough. The mpeg quality is good. But the Catalyst Media Center software is garbage. Anyone have any recommendations for a good, relatively simple, easy-to navigate, feature-rich aftermarket PVR program which will take full advantage of this card's features?

I'm testing ChrisTV PVR Professional in evaluation mode, but most of the mpeg features appear to be locked.

With the AIW I just use those built into VideoStudio, MediaStudio and the standalone MainConcept encoder. No fancy stuff like PowerCinema etc., but good for vidcaps.

Sagetv is supposed to be the most versitile PVR software out there.

SageTV and SageRecorder PVR Software for your PC. Turn your PC into the ultimate Personal Video Recorder.

I know dZeus uses it and really likes it. It has a lot of plug-ins that you can get that really tweak and customize the software. I know there used to be, still may be there, a module that would skip recording commercials.

      There is also BeyondTV:

SnapStream lets you record, search & clip any number of TV channels. Monitor & get alerts, post clips to social, make mashups, or get proof of performance.

And if you want a free one there is Yahoo! Go:

They bought some free DVR program a couple of years back and turned it into this. I haven't heard about this in a while, but for free it would be worth a shot (though your card is not on the supported list, so it might not work).

I noticed one annoying feature of this card. It can't deinterlace worth a damn. And the documentation is so sparce I can't even tell if it's upper-or-lower-field dominant. Lower, I think, judging from the results I get.

SageTV + DScaler + FFDshow = no de-interlace problems and fantastic looking upscaled video.
