Unfortunately, my milkshake seems to hold no sway over this inanimate object.
Going to let it sit in a dry-ice sandwich over night.
But I don't hold out much hope.
I have a backup, but it's OLD...
sigh...
This is truly the first drive I've owned in all these years that has completely failed.
I even kept my data through 5 (!) deathstar deaths.Chuck

It never rains. Now the drive in his other PC is playing up
I have built machines for dozens of friends/colleagues/acquaintances and between them they haven't had half the failures this one guy has had.
From the sounds of it I don't think the wine cooler will be appropriate in this case. And despite me using the word 'backup' on several occasions to him lately...you guessed itFT.

And set up a bit of a daily backup to our file server using Sync Toy.
She claims the lost stuff is not that important. Could just be a brave face.
I think she mostly works off her laptop, which I clone fairly regularly to an external usb drive just like the one in her laptop. That way if the laptop drive fails I can just take the spare drive out of it's usb enclosure and install it as a replacement, OS, data and all.Chuck
