  • Stretched Wallpaper - Haig / Others?

Any idea why when I stretch desktop wallpaper beyond its initial size, window movement comes to a crawl? This used to happen on my old G200 and also happens on my G400Max. Drivers are 5.30

how big is your picture? If it's like over 1 or 2 megs... no wonder it does that...

      Yes,
I am sometimes guilty of using very large wallpapers. It's considerably faster if you tile a smaller picture. That's a video fact of life, not Matrox's fault.
However, if you definitely want to use this image, either tile it, center it, or use an image editor to make a copy, and rescale the picture to exactly your resolution. This will give you a good speed boost.

The wallpaper is a 283K Jpeg image. I have done this with a TNT card without this effect.

          questor,

Open the wallpaper picture file in an editor, and change it's physical dimensions to what your screen resolution is and save it, this will eliminate that.

Convert it to (the admittedly large) BMP file at your screen's resolution. If you're using a JPEG, it might very well be decompressing, changing color depth, and resizing for every refresh. Ick.
