Yup. Mine worked fine for months, after the first problems, then it started again, and flashing bios etc didn't work.
Found out it worked better on Primary IDE, with NO secondary attached.
Or secondary with no primary...can't remember. One of the ways it worked fine, just still wouldn't read 'original' disks, but worked otherwise...
