  • solar panels question

    Hello,

My father recently read an article on solar panels and energy, and quite suprisingly it has spawned an interest to have solarpanels put on the roof. The roof is perfectly oriented to the south, being exposed to direct sunlight from sunrise to the late afternoon. As my father isn't much of a DIY-guy, he will have to have it done.

Just wondering if there are things to look out for, technologies that are preferred, etc.

AFAIK, Water heating through solar is much more efficient than generating electricity. There are systems that integrate this nicely into your hot water/house heating system. There might also be government subsidy on the various types of solar stuff, he should look into that.

Yes, but he is really looking for electricity (water heating now goes with natural gas).

There is indeed government and city subsidy for placing solar panels.
