    Hello Peeps

I have just been given a BX chipset board that will take all mthe Pentium 2,3 & celeron chips, its a slot 1 board so i have bought a PPGA convertor, and a 400a chip, anyone had any joy with overclocking this chip and what have you reached?. Also are there certain chips that will not overclock

    Cheers

Depends on a lot of things -)
Just because you have a BX motherboard doesn't mean you can overclock. Many BX boards just autodetect the CPU speed and you're stuck with that. Others have jumpers or a BIOS setting to let you overclock.
Assuming you can overclock, we know a c400a runs at 66mhz fsb with a 6.0x multiplier (6.0x66=400), so the odds are you could reach 6.0x75=450 with little difficulty, 6.0x83 for 500 is an outside chance, but 6.0x100 for 600 isn't very likely. You never can tell though, depends on the individual board, cpu, ram, etc.
    No guarantees when overclocking...
