New Windows in '09?

Feb 15th is the rumored Vista SP1 release date. They will likely stagger the SP1 and XP SP3 release dates so their servers don't get hammered too hard.

Now its being said that the next Windows won't come out till ~2011.

Some other updates I read. Vista SP1 will likely be out before Feb 15th. XP SP3 may be out this week. Windows 7 is being called 'MinWin' internally. They are planning on making W7 a modular OS, so you can highly customize the experience. Meaning system tweakers will be able install a very small footprint while OEMs can install the standard fair to reduce support calls.

From the people who brought you nLite which was pretty cool Allowed you to slipstream SATA drivers into XP so you didn't have to worry about finding a floppy disk drive.

I saw news that next Windows won't come out in 3 years and Microsoft would be pretty stupid to release Vista 2nd edition and further confuse the market in a year (5SKUs, each with DSP, retail, upgrade, some also with VLKs, now add 5 more of SE) and add support costs to OEMs, users (Vista already does that, VLK server anyone). Since MS releases tend to slip, we can expect new version sometime in 2011, unless MS goes into panic mode due to some unexpected competiton (Linux will IMHO gain couple percent but it will not threaten MS Monopoly).

I guess I'll just stick to XP untill next release like I stuck with NT4 past XP came out.
