  • My Mobile phone just went bonkers ??!!?

Literally a few minutes ago, my Motorola V3i (bought unlocked) just started vibrating continuously.
I opened the flip, and the screen is black with white text, this is the exact text:

    "Boot Loader
    0A.30.
    SW Version:
    R479_g_08.B4.3
    4R
    PHONE CODE SIG
    ERROR:

    OK to Program
    Connect USB
    Data Cable"

    WTF ????

Taking the battery out doesn't work, or removing the SIM or the microSD card.
    It just repeats this .

Anybody know how to hard reset these ? or WTF is going on ?

I use this as a phone. Its had some mp3's on the SD card for about 6 months.
I haven't used the USB cable to charge for nearly a year.

I have no idea if it is bricked or not...hopefully not.

    HELP !!

Talk about f'ed up...found a website that says flash the phone (yeah, like i'm gonna do that...)

Then just tried to press 1234, then the 'OFF' button, screen goes off for 1sec, then came back as before.
0000, then 'OFF' button, it now asks me to insert SIm card, the black screen is gone....
"Seems" to have fixed it, whatever it was....
0000 is NOT the SIM code, might be the phone code, but there shouldn't even be one...

Hmm, i'm keeping an eye on this closely...

Hmmm, put SIm back in, black screen same as before.
0000 did not work. Had to insert the actual PIN code for the SIM.

Seems OK....first time this has EVER happenned in over 7 years of mobile phone usage...

Anyone else with similar experiences ?

Phones now have OS'es. And are flashable. Which means the ROM can... well, go bad. It's an EEPROM, and a cheap one at that.

You might have to reflash it! Or call and make your carrier troubleshoot it. But be prepared that THEY might make you reflash it. That's what T-Mobile does half the time with their advanced phones.

I had weird one last week, my samsung e310 screen went white an locked up.
I turned it off then on, it would ask for pin(normal) and then restart and ask for the pin again repeatedly.
I removed the sim, replaced etc same thing. So as a last resort i tried my brothers sim and it started working.
I then put my sim back in it and worked as normal...wtf

Sounds like the phone was stuck in the boot loader... As Gurm said, phones have OSes, with all the downsides that come with it...

Marsmallowman: how old is your sim card? The cards tend to wear out, causing intermittent connection issues. Normally, getting a replacement sim is a very easy procedure... (had mine replace once)

Yeah, that was the time I upgraded too... not because it was necessary, but the guys at the store figured it was the right time (was no extra cost either).

you might want to ask the friendly guys over http://www.motomodders.net/ ... they have lots of experience when it comes to modyfing Motorola and i remember that tinkering with the boot process was one of the things you do when trying to update the firmware, so they should have lots of experiences.

The strange thing is that i was just sitting there. the phone stays ON all the time, i just about never switch it off, so why it decided to get stuck on the boot loader, i don't know.

I thought i might have been 'sent' a reset command, and was a hack to clone my phone or something...
