As I have said, I have an Initio 9100UW(actually its an Iwill 9325 SIDE)...that I used to use...it worked fine with both my IBM Ultrastar UW and my Quantum Atlas 10K...I think I paid around 85$ for it...
    not a bad deal...

i also have the quantum atlas 10k and i benchmarked the drive using HD tach and adaptec's own threadmark benchmark and the only real difference was that the hard drive burst speed varied(roughly 36MB sec burst in ultra wide mode and 62MB sec in ultra 2 mode) but that's maybe 5-10% of the the total performance of the drive so as long as you're not using more than 1 scsi hard drive you should be o.k (meaning buy the drive now and save up for a faster scsi card later)hope that helps.oh by the way right now there is no hard drive capable of sustained reads or writes faster than 30MB sec,(of course don't ask me that same question in 6-9 months from now because there most certainly will be disks capable of going close to 40MB sec reads and writes)
      note to self...

Assumption is the mother of all f***ups....

      Primary system :
P4 2.8 ghz,1 gig DDR pc 2700(kingston),Radeon 9700(stock clock),audigy platinum and scsi all the way...

Thanx for the info Superfly. Now for a non-SCSI question: Why the f@#& is there a MURCette under my name and how can I change it to MURCer?

BTW I'm buying the DAWI DC-2976 UW controller today I'll set up my new Atlas IV in a few days.Since my previous storage system consisted of a Quantum FB 1.2GB I better see a real difference.I hope I'll have no problems on setting it up on my old system which is a P200 MMX.I don't think the MB's bios supports SCSI drive bootup's.We'll see.
