  • P3 Support On Older Motherboards

I currently have an ABIT BH6 with a P2 CPU, and sometime in the near future, I plan to upgrade to a P3.

    Question:
Does the Abit BH6 support the Intel P3's with the 133 FSB? I know regular P3's with the 100 FSB are supported. I am curious because operating the FSB at 133 would result in the AGP bus running at about 87/88.

    ThanX.

If the BH6 is like my BX6r2, sortof. It does not do the AGP bus as 0.5 * FSB, but 0.667 * FSB which could lead to problems. It does have the PCI bus as 0.25 * FSB so the PCI is in spec.

With the PM Bios upgrade the BH6 will support the 650 and 700MHz Coppermine P3's. It will suport the new P3's with the 100MHz FSB.

ThanX guys. I guess the older ABIT boards still have some life left in them.

Now with the new TurboGL, I can hold onto that P2 400 (o/c to 450) for a while longer. I can also remove my Voodoo2 cards and save them for another pc.

        Ben

Wait! BH6 only support cumine if it´s Rev 1.1. Yes I know... that sucks! I´m stuck with a BX6 rev1 and also no coppermine for me...

          BX6 (rev 1), BH6 1.0x and all Abit socket 370 boards don´t support coppermines.
