  • Changing IRQ on K7M mobo?

Ever since i got my new Athlon with an Asus K7M motherboard, it assigns the video card to IRQ 11. Nothing else shares this IRQ but i have been having problem on a cold bootup.

I get a screen full of coloured horizontal and vertical lines at the point where the desktop should be beginning to load up on the screen.

Before with my old motherboard the video card was on IRQ 9 and I had no problems.

So how can I change my IRQ for my video card on a K7M motherboard? (just wanna test and see if this is the problem)

    Thx

    Hi Zenfe,

I was getting the same kind of cold bootup problems with my K7M/Athlon/G400. The workaround is to download the PD 5 Registry hacks from the MURC utilities and install the forceagp2x.reg.

Also, on P. 19 of the K7M manual it shows how to change the AGP voltage setting. By default Asus ships the boards out with an above spec 3.4V setting, where the spec is 3.31V.

It put my G400 on IRQ 11, and after the registry hack I haven't had to change it.

      AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

I never noticed that the K7M defaults to agp 1x. Grrrrrrrrrr

With my old motherboard it defaulted to agp 2x. Damnit I will try that

      I hope it works.

      Thanks a lot
