    120mm fan: metal & plastic

    I have a 3dfxcool 120mm fan
    and i saw a lot of overclockers using fans with the same size but a metal fans
    i know that mine is stronger but why they choose to choose the metal fans?

    Because they're readily available. Cast frame fans are typical of those used in industrial applications where temperatures are at an extreme. I have several metal frame types that are 15+ years old and are everybit as good as the day they were purchased. Very few "all plastic" fans have been able to claim this even after a few years of use. Plus don't just assume yours is more powerful. I have a fan that'll knock your socks off and it's only 60mm dia x 65mm deep albeit 20500 rpm's! Can you say lift off!

        The metal vs plastic frame has nothing to do with it's spl rating.

          That particular Metal fan is very quiet, i here. It came from 2cooltek.com but has been discontuined. Just look at the dB rating on the fan to determine which is quieter. Lower is better.

            That metal fan is rated @ 80cfm @ 30 DB
            i have 2 and they are VERY quiet
            Btw.... Where the hell did you get that powerfull of a fan Greebe?
