How come I can't connect to a network printer on a different subnet? I can ping it fine, but I can't bloody connect to it! And I can't telnet to it either, not that it really matters. Putting it on the same subnet is not an option.

There maybe some access lists on the router that is blocking subnet A from subnet B, only allowing packets like Ping to come through.
Talk to your local network support guy to see why you can't connect.
Also it could be the printer itself not allowing you to connect via an access restriction list configurable on the printer itself.
