I think it was the K6-2, and was it 533 ? (not sure).

Anyway, there will be soon or there is a K6-2 or 3 with speeds around 500.

That was AMD's move against the 500 Celeron, and I think it was announced at the same time when the 750 Athlon was announced.

        AMD to Unveil Fastest Chip

AMD is set to unveil a new Athlon microprocessor today that runs faster than the latest Pentium III chip, Reuters has reported.

Intel is in the lead with a top processor speed of 733 megahertz--the new AMD chip boasts 750 megahertz. The chip is the first to be made using AMD's 0.18 micron manufacturing process, which creates transistors with linewidths that are 1/500th the width of a human hair. Intel also manufactures chips using its 0.18 micron technology, considered important in lowering manufacturing costs for higher profit margin chips.

AMD has also announced a 533-megahertz K6-2 chip that targets Intel's budget-conscientious consumers; Intel's fastest low-end Celeron microprocessor runs at 500 megahertz. The AMD-K6-2 processor is bundled in a Super7 platform-compatible, 321-ceramic pin grid array using C4 flip-clip interconnection and 3DNow! technology. Many computer manufacturers plan to offer systems featuring the processor, including an upcoming Compaq Presario Internet PC.
