  • Registry error when overclocking.

When I bump my FSB speed to anything above 122 MHz before Windows has a chance to load I get an error saying the system registry is bad and I must restart the computer. As soon as I set it back to 122 everything is OK. Is this problem occuring becuase my HDD is overheating? Or perhaps it is something else... Any coments on the subject are much appreciated.

It could be any component in the system simply does not like the high FSB. By cranking it up like that, you are overclocking the entire PCI bus, AGP, and RAM. One weak link is all it takes.
Pull out all the components, and try. If it works, add them back in one by one, trying again with each new component.

I had a Creative Dxr2 that would not run over 103 FSB. My current RAM won't go over 112 (RAM is proboably the most common culprit).

      In addition to Kruzin:

You would need a bus divider of 1/4 for PCI and 1/2 for AGP to run those kind of FSBs without harming your components.

Most likely (depending on your MoBo and its revision) you only have 1/2 and 1/3 for PCI and 1/1 & 2/3 for AGP.

What you could do as a quick check is to disable UDMA in your MoBo's bios and if you can boot at those settings, it seems to be the IDE controller going nuts when having UDMA enabled.
