Windows 7 public beta for both 32bit and 64bit

64 bit seems to work just find.
Though it HATES the old Maxtor 40 gig drive I installed it on and reminds me about every 10 minutes that it is about to explode.
Same state the drive has been in for the last 5 or so years I might add.

Hehe knowing Maxtor...I don't think Windows 7 is lying, the Maxtor could explode..run for cover!!

I downloaded the 32-bit from Windows (via the technet link in the first post). It doesn't work via Firefox, but other than that it is a suprisingly fast download!

I downloaded my copy with Opera (best download manager in a browser by far, I use it for all large downloads). Strange that FireFox wouldn't work.

When going via Technet, they launch an ActiveX download manager...
(the direct links posted do work in firefox)

So what do you do when the active x control Akamai download manager stalls out with less than 1% to go ?

i've tried pause resume to no avail.

FF3 would only get to 1/3 of the download , even with the direct links

you download the leaked 7000 build from a torrentsite (which has been available since before newyear). It's the same thing (I compared the MD5 and SHA-1 checksums).

Just use a key from the internet, as MS has been handing out the same keys of a subset of 10 keys (10 for x86 and 10 different ones for x64) since the huge run on their servers.

i copied one of the links on the last page to get a key, and then copied another link on the page that came up and it gave me a key without having to do anything much
I just logged into windows live for a few seconds, and then ...bam!

DLing it now with the SRWare chrome browser...going well...got the 64bit version, will have to try and run with the 4x1Gb sticks again to see if its stable...

edit : just noticed that i don't have enough space for the file, unless its preallocated, which i dont think it has....
rapidly cutting some old desktops....

Just installed the 64-bit version under VMWare Fusion on my MacBook Pro. Just pretend its Windows Server 2008 64. Working ok so far.

I tried to burn the image onto a dvd-rw and the disc is now shot.
A friend burnt it for me, and when it gets to copying file, it goes straight to 100% in a few seconds. and then craps out on expanding files (which cant be there)
In the log it says that the Winimage part didnt work...
i'n trying it onto a clean hdd...

Will re download from work tomorrow

Heh, got it installed with the 3rd DVD...its the one i did at 16x...lol

Everything installed, except the SB Audigy, which has problems...
have a backup installed at the mo.
