Hm, correction: Intel released new 32bit CPU in the PAST MONTH (and of course it still seems like they want to do it in the second half of the year...)

We're stuck untill next major Windows release, it seems...

I've tried both 32 bit and 64 bit Windows 7 on my Core 2 HP desktop and the 64 bit is so much faster and more reliable. Macromedia need to get a 64bit flash player and Checkpoint a 64 bit vpn client out though!

Been loving Vista 64 and I have to agree that Win7 was much better in 64 versus 32. My only big issue is how Vista 64 breaks a lot of hardware that I still use. Serial Wacom tablets, scanner functionality, hardware acellerated sound. Mind you I understand the need for not letting stuff talk directly to the hardware layer.. but it is FRUSTRATING.

But doesn't Vista32 "break" just as much of those hardware?

I am not upgrading to Windows 7 until all of my applications are available in 64 bit versions that are reported by users to be as stable as their 32 bit counterparts. And of course that will be Windows 7 64 bit.

That was my plan for Vista but then came the reported problems and the fact that many of my applications are still not available in 64 bit format.

I'm really quite fine with 32bit XP at the moment and have no problem waiting a year or more for Windows 7 64 bit and all of the 64bit applications I'll require.

Win7 ran great on my laptop as long as I didn't need to use WiFi. The WiFi experience was so horrible I uninstalled it...and I kind of miss it. Except for the fact that the WiFi blew. Intel 3945ABG for those who are curious.
