50mbps cable from Virgin Media (Telewest) here

When you own your own business you only have to work half a day. You can do anything you want with the other twelve hours.

£65.50 per month which includes their XL TV package and telephone line. I also get a free V+ box as part of the bundle.

Still no blody optics here! It's built to the building but no option to connect yet.

One advantage of the speed that I had not intended became apparent when working on my cousin's computer. I had just imaged the machine and placed it over her house and proceeded to copy over an annoying large number of files in the 12 GB range. Well it ended up being late on Saturday and though i enjoyed watching Revenge of the Fallen I eventually had to go to bed. I woke up the next morning and realized I never copied over the major updates for Office 2003 and some other updates. I really hate having to locate them.

I connected via logmein.com and realized the computer had a 15 day trial period for the full version which included file transfer. I was able to transfer over what I wanted at over 1MB per second. I'm gonna end up paying for the service sooner or later.

@Taz, that sounds about the same.

                What kit did they install?

A new fancy looking cable modem. They brought a Netgear WNR2000 router, which is still sitting in it's box as I wanted to carry on using my Draytek Vigor 2820n

Reading around it looks like you made the right choice. I have a Netgear Rangemax N (forget the exact model) that does gigabit which I'll use instead. The Vigor's are great, but a bit costly for home use.
