  • Can't get Win98 modem multilink working...

I recently deiscoverd the nifty multilink option in dial up networking. The problem is my second modem won't connect after the first one is connected. The Win98 help file says that PROBABLY means my ISP doesn't suuport multilinking. The thing of it is I know my ISP does. Sadly the help file goes no further, so has anyone out there run into this problem? Or if you haven't do you have any ideas on how I can get this working?

Your ISP may support it, but you need to contact them to have them enable it for your account. This will probably carry an added monthly charge. My ISP charges about $10 extra/month for the use of 2 of their modems and phone lines.

Ok, I will email them and see what they say. The thing is I am not using the multilink for DSL connections. I am trying to get two modems working. Since they aren't special modems do you think I will still have to pay more? Thanks much for your help thus far.

Yes, that is what I am saying. I have 2 standard 56k modems in my machine, and if I want to hook up with both, there is an extra charge.

As usual Kruzin, you were right. My ISP wants 40 bucks a month to use multilink. Since their DSL service is only 50 bucks a month I think I will go that route. Thanks again for your help.

            You will love dsl.
Goto www.dslreports.com to see info about your isp's dsl. Also the notes about optimizing Win's RWIN setting.

Hehe a couple months ago there were 3 ISPs out here (Jamaica) that had it enabled and didn't know. It was swet while it lasted. Lets see now Mandrake 6.1 iso in about 18-24 hours of online time. Cool
