As noted in my posts last year GPGPU (NVidia's CUDA and ATI's Stream Processing API's) are going to be a really big deal when it comes to speeding up software maths, and soon. Big speedups for multimedia (including home theater) and scientific software in particular.
FireFox users have a bit of a procedure to use it and get the acceleration with the pre-release, but it doesn't look too bad. Hopefully this will be automated in a FF patch or the Flash release.
