    Thanks
The problem with converting to fat16 is that his drive 0 is 13 gigs. So, if he creates a 2 gig partition on 0 "c:" he will blow away all the program installations that won't fit.

      I have 1 drive,made 4 partitions

      c:WinNT-fat 16
      d:WinNT Apps-fat 16
      e:Win98-fat 32
      f:Win98 Apps-fat 32

I installed NT first, then 98,then install NT all the way again till it asks you to repair, put in the ERD and uncheck everything but "Inspect boot sector" then it will tell you to reboot and then you have your option of WinNT or Win98 at bootup. You can access everything from 98 but not NT,don't think this will help but it's not that bad if your just learning NT.

Because not everybody can download Win2k, Gurm

I got Win2k Pro RTM yesterday, actual legal CD, but it will not install. I know what's wrong, I don't have the win2k drivers for my highpoint UDMA 66 card. So I just need to get the right drivers for it and I will put it on at home in a dual boot.

There is also the factor that we have no idea if the Oracle DB engine that we will be using will even run on W2k. So the experiment would tell us nothing.
Hmmmmm, Lifes a bitch & then you die.
          Thanks for the sugestions though.

Actually, i am using an Oracle 8 based client on my Win2k machine here at work. Works without any troubles and installed fine.

I would hope that M$ would make Win2k Oracle compliant since Oracle is so damn big. Build a test amchine and try it.

              Hi Jammrock,
We are doing the experiment to test the server.
              Oracle has TERRIBLE NT support.
Here is a typical conversation with an Oracle TS person.

US: We are able to spend over budget. (This is a fictitious example about their Apps. The DB engine is wonderful!)
THEM: Uh. OK. Get to a UNIX prompt.
US: We can't, we are an NT only shop.
THEM: Oh, OK. Just a second........
              TIME PASSES
THEM: OK. I got it. Can you switch to a machine that's running UNIX and get to a prompt?
US: We can't, we are an NT only shop.
THEM: Oh, OK. Just a second........
              TIME PASSES
THEM: OK. I got it. Let' try it on a server. Log onto one of your servers that's running UNIX and get to a prompt.
US: We can't, we are an NT only shop.
THEM: Oh, OK. Just a second........
              TIME PASSES
              etc. etc.

              It truly is that bad.

You could try to fool them with the NT4 command prompt

                  We've tried it before!
                  Talk about desperate.

Hey Jammrock, what do you do with Oracle?

I am tech in a large telecom company. We use Oracle as the db managing backbone for a trouble ticketing system. We also have other Oracle systems running other tasks, but they are run from Sparc stations. The trouble ticket system also tracks all problems and resolutions so you can look them up in case you get stumped.

Anyway, it's slow as hell over our network and I don't administer it, just use it.
