    Thanks Sacha and others...

I tried diffeerent CDR and zilch.

Sacha, when you say that I should try adjusting the buffer of the DMA in the settings section...I access system properties and see a lict of my devices, but see no device referred to as "DMA", but I see my SCSI card by Adaptec, Ultra66Higpoint drivers and a few others...but nothing specificically referred as DMA.

However in the SCSI devices, I can access settings, but there is nothing under settings which refers to DMA....any suggestion

    thnks

Hi Bongo, changing DMA buffers can be done by opening the DMA Controller's properties under System Components. This is the device class that contains information about your motherboards components such as the CMOS Timer, PCI bridge, DMA Controller and so on.
You won't find it in the SCSI Controller's settings. The SCSI Controller's settings are documented in Adaptec's EZ-SCSI tutorial.
The DMA buffer affects all ISA devices that use DMA transfers.

If the DMA controller isn't present under system devices something is wrong with your Windows configuration!

      Hope to hear something soon,

      Alegria

Okay, I found the DMA controller under System Devices in the Device MAnager. Under Settings I have 2 option boxes open to me. One is called Reserve DMA buffer, which if checked opens another box that prompts me to type in "k bytes reserve".. Do I enter an amount here, and if so how much?

Second option is "Restrict DMA transfers to memeory below", with an option of 16 MB (or 4 Gb), which do I choose/?

        thanks

          Try 8 to 16kB.
Forget about DMA restrictions below 16MB.

Can you post some of your BIOS Settings for
          the PCI Bus?
e.g. CPU to PCI write buffer,
          PCI delayed transaction, PCI concurrency,
          ISA Line buffer a.s.on.
