  • Does windows log program use in registry?

I heard a claim that windows logs progam use in the registry, more specificaly the time and date for the first and last use.

I havent been able to verify it.

HKEY_USERS\....\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ShellNo Roam\MUICache do list al lot of programs but no date information and I'm not sure how long it's retained.

    Anyone that knows?

It would have to wouldn't it?
Don't recently/frequently used programs show up in a list on the start menu?

Oddly enough, some programs show up there after their first use; others never seem to make it to that list...

        I've noticed that too.
There must be another list: Things to put in the list.

          History

I know that if you delete something in that list from the start menu something else will fill that spot based on the number of items you tell it to display in said list.

It does but there are options to delete the program history at log off. If you tell me the OS and I pull up the instructions.

              Yes

I know, but I'm just saying that there has to be another list some where in order to "fill" in the ones that are there that you remove.

I'm running Win 7 64 bit UE and I know where that setting is at.
