    Anyone had any probs with this chipset?

    Perhaps you could be a little less specific in your question. Not too many people know their chipset product id to 8 decimal places. Heck, I don't even remember mine off the top of my head. I'll have to take a look under the hood a little later.

    I have a VIA southbridge on my Asus K7M mobo. It has worked absolutely flawlessly with W98 for me.

    Perhaps you could list examples of motherboards that use it to get better response.

    OK, I popped the hood, and my VIA southbridge is a VT82C686A.

      I can't help if if i know the chipset, i was just wondering if anyone else had any particular probs as the via chipsets never were that good!!

        Hi Joe.

        I have the same chipset on my Mobo, and
        apart from some initial probs, mainly
        to do with configuration between SB Live
        card and the G400 (which was solved by
        getting the 5.30 drivers for G400 and
        LiveWare 2.1) I've had no problems. Having
        said that though, next time the board needs
        upgrading I'm going for the Intel chipset,
        simply because it IS more reliable.
