  • HP CDRW - master or slave

Hi all. Just picked up a HP 8200i CDRW that I've got to install in a friends computer. I was just wonder if it works better as a master or slave drive. He's got the HD as master on primary controller and a DVD as master on the secondary. I'm assuming the CD-RW should go on the secondary, so it and the HD aren't fighting for bandwith. Should I bump the DVD down to slave or does it really matter?

    thanks

    Rick

Your RW should be fine as slave. More importantly, many DVD's are finicky, and want to be master.

Yeah, but thats also true of CDRWs. I had to put that exact same one on its own on a channel to prevent lockups.
I suggest Rick does test writes before making coasters till he's sure its ok.
