    Help

I know this a hardware forum, but this is related to hardware sort of. I have just installed Suse 5.2 Linux, all works fine, but when i try and install X-windows(XFREE86), it checks the mouse and then locks the PC, i have tried various settings ie PS2 etc, Bus mouse, but it still locks.

Any one out there know a solution

        Hi JoeDredd!!

Have you tryed to remove the overclock from your system and watch if all work OK?

If you overclocked your processor by raising up the FSB (25% up!), probably this is too high for the 'X' mouse drivers in that situation.

If your mouse is working with an O.S., isn't right that you can believe that the mouse MUST work on the same overclocked system on another O.S., the drivers are DIFFERENT and make access to the hardware into a DIFFERENT manner!!

        Cheers Zanna.

I had the same problem when I installed Red Hat Linux 6.1.

It was supposed to configure the mouse during the installation, but when going nito X Windows the pointer was frozen.

I reconfigured the mouse from the shell using /usr/sbin/mouseconfig

(I'm using a Serial MS Intellimouse).

BTW, Linux is so much easier to install than NT!

          Good Luck!

          Le B.
