  • Sb64 Awe whining

    Hello there !

Due to cramped living conditions I am forced
to use headphones when playing games etc. I've always noticed this strange 'whining' sound when the cd-rom drive is running. Also,
I can hear a slight whine while manipulating
    windows on my desktop.

Recently I tested a program called Rain, and
the 'whining' nice became tenfold. If I disable Rain, the noise stops, and continues
    when I enable it again.

Any ideas what might be causing this, and if
there's anything that could be done about it.

The Sb is a few slots away from my G400 and
is connected to the cd-rom drive via an
    audio cable.

Sound like some kinda of electrical interference. Check your headphone cables and where it connects to the sound card... Make sure its not bent real bad or broken. Also make sure the cd audio cable isnt wraped around any cables inside the case. Do the same for the head phone wires..
