RoGue, I'm using a week 42 (that's the core week) it was recieved in a batch of 15 cpu's (standard unit packaging). It has a 650 core and 3.1ns L2's, which I might add will do 2.5ns speed (ie 800 with a 1:2 latency).
I'll add that these were spread from week 42-44. Half would do 800 with a 1:2 latency and the other half @850 with a 1:3 latency (none do 2/5).

Also "Machine powering up for a second, then powering off again when switching on power to the power socket the PSU is plugged into (i.e before you even touch the case's power switch)." This is normal... actually if this doesn't happen the system won't boot as I've found out.

Which Umax scanners? I've tested a Visionier (can't remember M# offhand) and a 2100U. Both worked fine.

I haven't used a USB mouse on it... but have read somewhere (I'll have to find the link) on how to fix this issue.

Is this when installing Win98 or SE?

Joe, it's very difficult to say how high it'll go... as this depends on several factors like core/L2 quality and speed rating. I'd suspect 850-900 with proper cooling.

Rob, if your listening/see this, it's almost done!

Thanks Greebe. I was curious. Also, what was my luck with the cache labeling?

I've really spoiled myself here. I just ordered a 19" Sony to go with the monster.

        Mwa ha ha.

          Hello again Greebe,
...This is normal... actually if this doesn't happen the system won't boot as I've found out
Really? no other motherboard I've used does this.

Which Umax scanners? I've tested a Visionier (can't remember M# offhand) and a 2100U. Both worked fine.
          Umax Astra 2000U and 2100U.

I haven't used a USB mouse on it... but have read somewhere (I'll have to find the link) on how to fix this issue
I know the fix - just leave a PS/2 mouse plugged in as well. This works but is annoying.

Is this when installing Win98 or SE?
No, when booting into Win98SE. The mouse works just fine if you plug it in afterWin98 has booted. But if you then restart the machine will hang.

          Thanks for your CPU info.

          Chris.

RoGue, I've seen the fans do a "temp spinup" in all MB I've tested so far.

That's strange... I have a 2100U connected up to it now.

I'm not refering to that (joke of a) fix... still searching

Well I'm only using Win98 (no "S"ucky "E"dition) with OMG how many patches... Errr (Gurm, if you wish to whine about patches, do it about MS!)

Let me see... one customers system config is-
            Athlon 650
            MSI 6167 MB
            G400Max
            128meg PC100 sdram
            TB Quadzilla sound
            Promise Fastrak controller
dual IBM 14.4 7200rpm HD's (for above controller
Quantum 10 gig ata66 7200rpm HD (conected to MB)
            Imation 4x4x20 CD-RW
            Asus 40x cdrom
            Realtek 10/100 PCI nic
            HP 900 usb inkjet
            Visionier USB flatbed scanner
            Logitech internet keyboard (ps2)
            Logitech Marble+ (ps2)
            CTX PL9 19" monitor

            All works fine together

              Hi Greebe,

Its not just the fans that spin up, the hard drive(s) do also.

I still have an MS-6167 (not currently in use) I might connect it back up, flash the BIOS and give it a second chance

I am in the process of compilling a list of places to get hardware in the Uk, especially overclocking stuff which most places don't sell! The list is on my site, (www.hardwareuk.co.uk), which as you will see is not quite complete yet. Two places to try would be Overclockers, (www.overclockers.co.uk) and Power Computing, (wwww.powercomputing.co.uk).

                Hope this is of help.

No u did not put me off, i already had the BX board for the CU, so when my contact told me they now had 8 CU's in, i jumped at the chance to get one, they are a nightmare to get hold of in the UK, as Intel have stopped shipping them again!!!.

I will purchase a Athlon sometime this year tho, thanks for all the help. EVERYONE.

Still need help with my other posts tho!
