Brian may be on to something. My old Dell had a 200 Watt power supply. Do you have a 200 Watt power supply?

A Max, a Soundblaster Live, and a 200 Watt power supply. This could be a problem.

      3 beeps is a "damaged/missing video out". I think.
Gigabyte P35-DS3L with a Q6600, 2GB Kingston HyperX (after *3* bad pairs of Crucial Ballistix 1066), Galaxy 8800GT 512MB, SB X-Fi, some drives, and a Dell 2005fpw. Running WinXP.

Yup, 3 beeps is a missing graphics card. Weak Power Supplies or flakey RAM can also cause this symptom.

          PEOPLE!!!

The SBEmu is SoundBlaster16 Emulation.. it is SOFTWARE!!! It comes with all Lives! for the sole purpose (as someone said but no one listened) DOS games or DOS based apps.

          !!!IT IS NOT HARDWARE!!!

Now, there may be a onboard sound chip, but, it would have been listed in the IRQ settings and it would have come up by now. But, check any ways.

Seems as if no one has taken the usual steps in solving IRQ conflict problems. PCI Slot 1 (right nect to AGP slot) needs to be open! Thats first..

When that has been verified.. or, even better, since this topic has come up many times before.. do that, then SEARCH the forums for IRQ or Live! and something will come up.. If nothing does.. post here and we shall continue.

            RNick, check your BIOS settings.
Sounds like the old DELL-G400 problem (beeeeeep beep beep) and probably has nothing to do with your soundblaster or IRQ settings.
Dell machines default the aperture size to 64 for some reason.
Set it to 256 (the only other possibility).
You have no video so you have to put in your old videocard (any videocard but a G400) to get in the bios and reset the aperture size.
Then reboot with the G400 and good chance your problem is solved.
