will the new CuMine slot1 work with Abit-BE6 board?

just wondering if anyone of u are running coppermine slot 1 on a abit-BE6 mother board as i'm afaid it will fry the cpu , cause i had a check in the bios but the lowest voltage i can get it to is v1.95, btw while running p3-450, dare not to put in my new p3-550e slot1 until someone got a answer, been searching on the web but all i can find a reviews with coppermine running on apollo via 133/133a chipset mother board, which doesn't really help cause i've got a Be6 mother board =(
can someone plz find out? or know the answer plz reply

yes i did with the latest bios and the new beta bios , but doesnt say it support coppermine cpu in anyway, or if its possible to reduce voltage down to 1.65v

Hi interzone,

This is quoted next to the pl bios download off of ABit's website:

Supports PIII 600Mhz(100Mhz FSB), 650(100Mhz FSB) and 700Mhz(100Mhz FSB) CPUs

the 650 and 700's are coppermine cpu's, so yes, they are officially supported. All lower cpu speeds are also officially supported, and I can verify it does work fine. Just make sure you set your voltage for the current cpu you have to it's default voltage (2.0) then flash your bios, then it will retain default as default that way.

If you have the most current bios for the be6
or be6-2 And you change from a katmai(2.0 volt) to a
coppermine(1.65) will the mobo adjust to the lower voltage automatically when you install the new cpu and bootup or do you have to go into softmenu very quickly and change the voltage?
Also,is the i/o voltage(3.3) the same for the katmai and coppermine processors?

If you flash the BIOS with the CPU and Voltage set on autodetect, yes.

On the first point...
I currently have a p3 550 and as soon as prices drop some more I plan to get a 750E.
I just flashed the newest bios for the be6-2
and I don't recall there being an 'auto detect'feature.What am I missing?
I really don't want to fry the new cpu.

Under the SoftMenu-II (BE6) or SoftMenu-III (BE6-2, BF6) the voltage is set automatically to the CPU's correct voltage, unless you manually override it.

Autodetect, default...same thing. Just as long as you don't have a specific voltage selected you should be fine.
