Now that's a BAD setup, dude! Rock'n'roll, baby! I say go for that 1GHz. That's only a can-o-whop-ass 166.67 Mhz FSB. Piececake! Not to mention APG running at 111 Mhz. I'd like to see your G400 handle that at x2.

What kind of cooling are you using?
Could you post some numbers? Q3, Winbench, 3DMark, Sandra2k (new version!) etc.

    Regards,

    Jake

Oops 3dmark 2000 kicks me out at 900 so these scores are at 850 ,
      3dmark 3014
      cpu speed 275

      sandra 99 ,new ???
      cpu 2310
      fpu 1159
These tests were done with a tray full of norton black ice etc. running so they may be a bit low

The cooler is a global win vec32 I think ,not too sexy just 2 fans under a plastic cowl no copper but it would seem sexy enough .The chip just doesnt get hot..It the ram and hds are all happy at 900 but the g400 seems to punk out.Ive got mgatweek setup any ideas how to make it happy at 100mhz ? Also do the checks or Xes show enabled settings in mgatweek .. Matt

Hei ! When you o/c at such high speed for the CPU , do you need to update or upgrade the system/motherboard bios ? Please feedback.

You may need to update your motherboard's BIOS just to get the Coppermine to run at spec, much less overclocked.

          What motherboard are you using?

Im running a bf6 with the latest bios and yea Im thinken the latest drivers and firmware would be crucial. I just wish I could dial in this G400 so I could continue at or above 900.I bet MGATweek will do it I just dont know enough about it or what to try ..

I found that when overclocking, 3Dmark kicks you back to the desktop less if you increase the CPU voltage, at least it helped me.

I'm with Ad B here. Are you still at 1.65 volts? I have to increase the voltage on my PIII 600E to 1.70 to get it to boot into Windows. I have it at 1.75 volts now and everything appears to be stable.

                When all else fails ...

Hey Plmr, nice going. You got one heck of a P3 there. You might try setting the g400 to 1X AGP and see if that helps. Also increase the voltage a bit. I have been running my P3-700E at 1.8 volts without any problems.

                  Paul

I've been thinking about my situation relative to yours. I suspect a voltage increase *may* very well help. I've read that Intel, as they approach 1 GHz, intend to raise the voltage on the Coppermine again. (I believe the 500E and 550E are both at 1.60. As we know the 600E is at 1.65.)

I had problems with 3DMark2000 at 1.65, 1.70, and, for a while, at 1.75. After running processor-intensive SETI clients for a couple of days at 1.75 v, 3DMark2000 suddenly started working.

Of course, if you're not comfortable with upping the voltage, don't.

I'm rooting for you to get it stable. It's nice to see a CPU overclocked 50% over spec at such a high bus speed. It's kind of like the old Celeron 300A days, but at twice the speed.

                        Excellent work Plmr....

I think more of us would get higher than 133FSB as well, if we weren't running SCSI...

Sigh.. The sacrifices we make for disk speed (and convenience - but definitely not price! )...

Again - Good job, keep us up to date...

Ok voltage up to 175 Shouldnt be scary cause temp is never above 102 F .Im running Micron 7.5ns ram and I guess I'll try 3.5 volts on that. My Mga Tweek tab shows lots of Xs and Checks I dont know witch one means enabled but pcitest shows Im at 1X agp .should I kill any other functions on the g400 ??I really think 900 is doable cause everything execpt 3D is already stable at that speed..
Btw Guyver those 2 quantum Ide drives put out average sustained 36 megs per secound with 6% cpu overhead ,Im surprised that the promise fasttrack 66 isnt the card giving me greef but its the Matrox instead ..Ill go tweek and let youall know how it went

Could somebody tell me who has 600E's in stock? A friend of mine wants one, but there aren't any to be found around here.

                            TIA,
