I built a PII-350 system with an ASUS P2B MB, no over clocking, simple yet workable machine. It has Millenium g200 board with 8 Meg of SDRAM and an older bios of 2.3 and 4.10 driver. I believe the mobo is a rev 1.04 and bios update about 1009. Since day one on boot up, or sometimes in graphics on the net, the mouse pointer turns into a square box that looks like fast video is working within it. Of course everything crashes. Nothing but a hard boot will get things operational. Sometimes when it reboots, the same fast video square will show up, causing everthing to crash and another hard boot.
In other forums I read that this particular problem is evident with ASUS P2B series boards. Something about a 128 pixel frame. Have you heard of such a phenomeon? IF so are there any patches or fixes? To say the least after one year of this, it's getting pretty frustrating. ONce the system is up and working everything seems to work fairly well. Even the USB, which others said is faulty, works well with a Canon flatbed.
