  • mke a livestream (one time event, for few viewers)

    Hello,

A friend asked me a question: how to set up a livestream (via e.g. youtube or other services). They are getting married abroad and would like to live stream the ceremony for family.

What is needed? Which services work for that? How to do it?

    Thanks!

If it's just a few people you can setup a Skype, Hangout, whatever is easier for everyone to use. Use a tablet or smartphone to film/broadcast and have someone walk around with it acting as the camera person. Just make sure the device is muted...

For a wider audience you can try something like YouTube Live or Hangouts On Air. Or an office meeting app like WebEx, Skype for Business (with web player access), etc.

Live streaming lets you interact with your audience in real time with a video feed, chat, and more. Intro To Live Streaming on YouTube

        No....
It is the wedding of an aunt of my girlfriend (but due to age differences in previous generations, her aunt is her age).

It would be for a few people, but spread out over the globe: from Poland to Dominican Republic, with UK, Sweden and Belgium in the mix. So I'm not sure we'd manage with Skype...
I'm currently leaning towards some youtube solution, as this allows people to e.g. use a smartTV to follow it easily: not everyone who would watch it is a computer expert and we need to figure something out that makes it easy to setup for non-experts. I'll check the youtube links.

          That Google Hangouts looks interesting.

It seems that it is possible to make a live stream just to selected people in your circles, which is perfect. We'll have to get people to register in google+ to see it, but I think most people already have an account.

If it could stream from a tablet or smartphone, that would be great! We'll have to setup some test cases....

          Thanks!
