  • Help..does p3 cu look the same as the katmai with the heatsink off?

I just bought a 650 coppermine(slot 1) and removed the heatsink and fan.It doesn't look like my p3550.Is there only the cpu and no other chips showing on the pcb?
I know this is probably a dumb question but it's been a long day.
    Thanks

I believe it should look something like a Celeron. The cache is on the chip itself and not on the PCB like the Katmai's and the PII's.

Sounds like you got a Coppermine.

Thats exactly how it should look. Infact, the chip shoule be slightly SMALLER than that of your Kamati PIII.

            At 865 and solid....I think I've got a
shot at 900 but I'm going to let my comp get comfortable with the 133 fsb first.

                Well..er...ah...ahem...
                Slight miscalculation...very stable at 131 fsb.Working on 133....
But still very happy with the results.
