  • BE6-2, Dipswitches are faster than Softmenu

My BE6-2 (PIII 600) computer is much faster when the 112 MHz fsb is set by the Dipswitches than when I use the Softmenu to adjust the fsb. Everything else stays the same. The difference is as much as 40%.

Anyone else able to compare this on your computer? This is a noticable difference!

    Hi Brian,

I have a BF6 with a 550E that I normally run at 733 133FSB using SoftMenuIII, and I just changed from using the softmenu to the dip switches, and my computer runs exactly the same speed in SETI and in SiSoft Sandra 2000. I don't run the 112FSB ever so I couldn't do a direct comparison at that speed.

That is what I expect to hear from everyone. I don't know how to fix this. It has happened with at least two BIOS revisions. I run at 112 normally anyway, so I guess it's no big deal unless there are numerous others with this problem. This is not something you would normally check, so it would easily go undetected.

      Thanks for the input.
