  • G450 finally official!!!

And as always, MURC has the official Matrox press release on the front page.

Any thoughts on the specs from my fellow MURC'ers?

Well, being the proud ownder of a G400MAX (the 2X version), I'm am impressed by the features offered by the G450. But I'm wondering if it's worth it to jump to this upgrade, or wait till the G800 comes out. It still seems that Matrox is playing catch up to nVidia in terms of speed, not features - Matrox has nVidia beaten hands down in terms of the additional features on the G400, but the Matrox cards are still slower. Will the G450 be comparable to a GeForce 256 w/ 64MB DDR memory? If so, I'd recommend it to any of my friends that are planning on upgrading their computers soon. I on the other hand, will wait for the G800.

I was wondering why we needed another thread on the same subject as on MH? Since this is isn't GH related and only concludes to much hype and speculation, I'd think the appropriate place should have been TSB.

Oh well, on with the show...

Greebe don't be such a wet blanket(although you are probably right). The G450 looks nice but i think'll hang on to my G400max a little while longer but i guess, as they said its more a business solution. Overall, the decision to upgrade depends on a couple areas
        • how does it perform in the real world(against G400 & other cards)?
        • when is it available in numbers?
        • can it be o/c successfully?
        • what dose the G800 offer over & above the
          G450?

i guess we'll have to be content and wait to see what happens.
        cheers.
