This one has me utterly foxed, I hope someone here might have a clue about the cause.
Ever since I built my machine I've had an odd problem with CD audio in Windows. CD audio in games, or any other kind of streamed media is fine but playing CD audio appears to take up 80% processor time. (ripping it is also fine)
My system:
Celeron 366@550
128Mb 133MHz Memory
Pioneer 6X DVD drive (IDE)
Yamaha 6416 SCSI Cd burner
Tekram 395U PCI SCSI card
G400 8-)
MX300
ISA NIC
I thought initially I had just screwed up winamp, but any CD player slows the system to the speed of a drugged snail.
No IRQ conflicts as far as I can see (Had to do some fiddling to get the SCSI card happy)
Win98 SE, Win98 pluspack
Any ideas?
