Chuck now @ 910mz! Cooling question.

Well, I've gotten my Slot1 P3-650 running stable at 140mz fsb (910mz core).

My question is about cooling.
It is a retail part with a factory HS & fan.
Running Seti@Home 24/7 my P3 runs about 49c.
This is cooler than my celery333@500.
Should I get a cooler?
If so, which one?
Will it block a DIMM slot on my BF6?


It runs @ 910mz at standard core volts (1.65).
So it is a good chip.
Should I buy new memory & try for an even 1gig?

first off, congrats!

At 49c, the cpu is safe, however, it will shorten the lifespan somewhat

The Arcticooler is the best non-peltier I've seen yet!

In that case, I'd go for the Tennmax P3STF instead as it is only slightly less efficient then the alpha but does not steal any dimm slots

If you want a subtle improvement, you could try the GlobalWin VNS04, or if you don't mind a bit of noise, and have plenty of room, you could get an Alpha P3125.

Played cjolley like a true pro

IMHO you would be better of with the Alpha P3125c I have got one,and believe me they kick ass.
My p3 450 is at 630Mhz and I have not had any heat issues what so ever. So they are a bit noisey but thats a small price to pay,I sound proffed my case and now I dont really notice it at all

Please can you give me the heads up on s code and where you got the cpu from as I am seriously interested in getting my hands on one of them there cmines.

My Bro is going to New York on a netscape training course and has said that he will have a look see as to getting hold of one.

As you might allready know there is a real shortage of coppermine cpu,s here in the U.K. and the price sucks too :[

I have heared that they are less noisy than the alpha Like the mod on the back to cool its ass LoL lol

What does an S spec look like?
I don't know what temp it ran stock because it was only like that for about 5 min!

On the top of the cpu casing there are a load of numbers and letters giving info on what stepping the cpu is using and also where and when it was made e.g.:-

10130475-0297 PHILLIPINES SL3NA

there will also be infp on voltage and cache just jot down the lot and post it thanx matt
