What will it do?
Assuming, for argument's sake, that the drive is wiped clean: not all that much
These machines normally run on HP-UX (Hewlett-Packard's Unix-flavor). A linux-port seems to be in (reasonably active) development, but from what I gather, it will require a fair bit of determination to get it working. Unless you've done some linux-tweaking before, don't get your hopes up.
But sure, give it a shot. You can always point at the crater, and say: "Hey, but at least I tried".
