Here's my MCSE practice server I assembled from used parts that I begged, borrowed, and stole last month. Don't laugh, I'm using it to send this reply and it works just fine as an NT server. It surpasses Microsoft's minimum requirements:

                Cyrix P166+ Processor
DFI G586IPC Mobo (Intel HX chipset)
                32 megs RAM on 4-8meg 30 pin Simms (70ns)
                Diamond(?) SVGA ISA graphics card
IBM 14" VGA monitor (60Hz max refresh rate @ 256 colors)
1.0 gig Seagate HD (NTFS formatted)
                Diamond 8x CD-ROM (slooowwwwww)
                US Robotics 33.6 external modem
                Diamond(?) ESS1868 ISA sound card
                Linksys 10/100 PCI network card
                Colorado 250 MB Tape backup
Windows NT Server 4.0 (120 day evaluation copy)

It might be slow, but its faster than my wife's HP 486/66XM.

                RAB

                Oh, BTW, I also have 2 K6-3 450's with a G400
and G200 respectively and a K6-2 350 with a Matrox Mystique (the original - not the G200 version). They are all alive and in various states of health - no hardware problems - just Windows diseases.

AMD K6III-450; Epox EP-MVP3G5; G400DH32; Maxtor 10gig UDMA66; 128meg PC100; Aureal SQ2500 sound; PCI Modem Blaster; Linksys 10/100 NIC; Mag 800V 19"; AL ACS54 4 speaker sound; Logitech wireless mouse; Logitech Wingman Extreme (great for lefties)

Huh, I was thinking I'd have the slowest and then RAB goes and whoops everything

                      So then:

                      Main Workstation
                      P2-350 on SuperP6SBA with 2 x 128Mb SDRAM.
                      'Sparkle' TNT2 32Mb, SBLive!, 3Com 905B-TX 10/100 NIC, 2 x 56k s/w modem, Advansys SCSI.
IBM Deskstar 20Gb, Pioneer 10x Slot DVD, Pioneer 36x Slot CD, Yamaha 6416 RW SCSI.
Iiyama 19" VM-Pro 450 displaying Windows 2000 Pro, Win98 and occasional flirt with RedHat 6.x and BeOS 5.
(I switch between SCSI card and 2nd modem for multilinking and adding Zip100 drive in next few days)

                      Word Processing/Web Clients
                      1. Intel P120@P166, 32Mb RAM, Quantum 4Gb, Diamond Stealth 64 2Mb (Trio64), Diamond Voodoo1, some sound card, 3Com 905B-TX 10/100 NIC, 8x Creative CD-ROM, 15" Samsung monitor and a Sony floppy.
2/. Compaq Prolinea: Intel 486 SX/33, 12Mb RAM, 200Mb Hdd, Tseng Labs OBVGA, 3Com problematic 509 NIC, 14" Acer and a Compaq floppy.

                      Spares
Midi Tower ATX Case, Sony floppy, Creative TNT1 16Mb, G200 8Mb SG, a few Tridents, ATi's and Verite2200's and sound cards, network cards, a Cyrix 333 and a USR Sportster 28.8 ISA

Plan to get an P3-600E and Abit BF6 to build another system out of the above and turn the P2 or P120 into some sort of servers, this will also let me have a floppy in my main machine as the P2's controller is bust.

Possibly too much info, but I have been recommended the Abit board for OCing the 600E and not any boards for U66 as there are some problems - I am going for a plain U33 motherboard now and may add a U66/IDE RAID card later.

                      Hope this helps anyway,

                      Paul.
