Hell no.
I recently visited a friend who has a geforce(and similar cpu)
and although his frames/second are slightly higher the quality of his picture doesn't even come close. He took a look at my system
and agreed that the max's visual quality
was substantially better.
As the max scales well with cpu speed and cpu
prices are relatively low I think the best bet for G400 owners is to upgrade their processors and wait for the G800.
Most of the geforce goodies (fsaa and t&l,etc.)
aren't really used by many games at this point in time or take a major hit in fps.Yea Matrox!
