Better BX Motherboards???

I am looking for a new motherboard for Celeron 566. I haven't bought anything yet, but I would like to know which motherboard is the best for overclocking and stability.

I am still fond of Abit's SOFT MENU, but I heard bad things about Abit BE6-II and its UDMA66 controller.

I am thinking of ASUS CUBX or Abit BE6-II. I would like to know which one is loved by MURCers here. Any other suggestion will be greatly appreciated.

I like my BE6-2, The udma66 can be disabled with little or no drop in performance

Call me a dinosaur if you'd like, but I still love my Abit BX6r2 mobo. It has been one of the best mobos I've ever had the pleasure of working with.

I understand lots of people(including me) still love the Abit motherboards!!!

One more question. I have BH6, but I don't know whether it can support newer Celeron 566. On Abit's BIOS update information, it says it only support up to Celeron 533. I don't know... Maybe the voltage is different?

And, why would I choose BE6-II if I want to disable UDMA66? There is BF6. Right?

Please enlighten me... I still want to hear opinions about ASUS too.

go for the BF6, although MSI and Asus also make great motherboards....

However, if I needed to buy a new mothereboard today, I would go for the Abit SE6... i815 looks very nice to me, and the performace gap between it and the BX has been closed with the latest BIOS update.

I really like Abit, since my BX6r.2 is working great, and has full ACPI compliance

yes, going from the SK to SW bios on my SE6 improved performance over 10% which puts it about 3% slower with my P3B-F which is overclocked to 133Mhz. I like my SE6 cause it is so stable and I don't have to worry about frying my AGP card since it runs at spec and not over so much like what I have to do to the BX board to run at 133Mhz. One drawback is memory, you HAVE to have very good PC133 Cas2 ram to get the best out of the board as Cas3 does slow it down somewhat in the Sandra benchmarks I ran on it. Perhaps newer INF updates from Intel will fix that problem, but so far so good.

I'll bet if you stuck a slice of bread in the slot of the good o'l BH6, it would find a way to run programs with it.

Gecherself an Asus P2B. You can get em cheep now and it is a very well made board. Latest Bios allows Cumines too. Nice board and lots of murcers use em. I have had mine since Oct of 98 and with a slotket I can run whatever. it has a fsb up to 133. I think I will probably use it for at least 2 more years. Maybe more. Yea it doesn't have as many settings for o/cing as some others but it is very good and stable.
