  • PlextorWriter Manager needed..

I was given a PlexWriter 8/4/32A OEM version for my birthday and the damn thing does not come with any software/driver. Can any Plexwriter owner burn me a copy? I will pay for the shipping and for your trouble.

    Thanks much!

I have one also. Retail. Didn't come with any driver. Came with software for disc duplication and such.

If you're running W2K, the included software won't work correctly. Need to buy commercial version.

The included software is the Plex Manager 2000, DirectCD for packet writing, and EZCD Creator for data and compilation. The Plex manager does little for me, and I wouldn't touch DirectCD or EZCD with a 10-foot pole.

I use CeQuadrat's PacketCD for packet writing, WinOnCD for data and compilation, Paddus Disk-Juggler for everyday copying, and CloneCD for the tough-stuff. It's a great combo that allows me to do pretty much anything I want.

If you install the Adaptec software, you will hoze youself as far as trying anything else...Adaptec does not play well with others.

Adaptec's software works fine for me. Now you have a wide range of opinions.

Please don't take offense, but EZCD is for those who understand little about the burning process and don't care to learn. The options available are very limited, EZCD chokes on *ANY* type on copy protection, and once I saw that the stupid Spin Doctor wouldn't do DAO, I threw it out the window and ran over it with my Jeep. Then the DirectCD hozed me when I tried to use Nero or WinOnCD, and I couldn't seem to find an easy solution, so *fdisk*format*reinstall*, and Adaptec-no-more.

Never could understand why the company which is pretty much responsible for the ASPI-layer files on millions and millions of computers can't write a CD-burner progam worth a sh*%...

the nice thing about EZCD is the caching engine.... but that is about it. Everything else sucks about it.

With Nero I can overburn, write proper VCD's, etc.... etc....

Alongside Nero you can use CDRWIN to write all the .bin or .iso images you want, and CloneCD to copy the games that are copy-protected....

Adaptec works fine for me too. Easy to use.
